ALBANY - Several times during his summit with tourism leaders from around the state, Governor Cuomo encouraged counties and communities to work together in regional efforts to draw visitors. An idea that most embrace.

But when it comes to casino gaming, neighboring counties find themselves on opposite sides of an effort to land a full-fledged gambling hall.

New city app raises questions about mayor’s re-election

ALBANY - For many years now, Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings has had his own weekly radio talk show where, among other things, he listens to complaints about things like potholes needing repair.

With his political future still not clear, Jennings announced Tuesday that the city has come up with a new, electronic means of fielding those complaints.

And right away, people like me are trying to analyze this latest development, to see if it tells us anything at all, however tenuous, to solve the mystery of whether Jennings plans to run for re-election .

The mayor announced Tuesday what he calls a "first-ever" for this region.

It's a new electronic "app" so that citizens of Albany can notify the city about potholes, or graffiti, or broken street lights, or even criminal activity like drug-dealing.

LATHAM– Over $626,000 was raised for the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center during the annual Cares for Kids Radiothon May 2-3.

810 & 103-1 WGY and 99.5 The River broadcasted live for more than 30 hours from Albany Medical Center on May 2-3, to raise vital funds for the Children’s Hospital.

“It takes a dedicated team of hospital and radio station volunteers to make the Radiothon a success, but the true heroes are the children and the families being helped by these efforts,” said Josh Everett, 810 & 103-1 WGY's Program Director.  “Their courage and willingness to share sometimes difficult and painful experiences, along with the victories, is truly what compels others to give so generously.”
