Early morning fire destroys Colonie home
COLONIE - What may have started as a kitchen fire has totaled a house in Colonie.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Thursday morning at 1 Ernie Road near Lisha Kill Road. Firefighters were also concerned about hundreds of rounds of ammunition stored inside the house.
There was one person inside the house at the time. He got out safely.
“The structure collapsed early on in the incident. Firefighters were kept away from the building so there wouldn't be any injuries,” said Bob Stevens, Colonie deputy fire coordinator.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
