COLONIE - Longtime local lawmaker Bob Reilly is calling it quits. The four term assemblyman says he will not seek re-election. Reilly has represented Clifton Park, Colonie and Halfmoon for the past eight years. In a statement, he says he believes a limited term of service is integral to the concept of a citizen legislator and that he does not want to morph into a professional politician.
He is now supporting Kevin Frazier to succeed him. Reilly does plan to complete his term.
Bob Reilly has been donating his salary every year since he was first elected in 2004.
Here are some things you may not know about the assemblyman. He graduated from the University Of Notre Dame in 1961.
He then received his masters from St. Rose.
He was a cross country coach at Siena College for 17 years.
He also served as a high school teacher for ten years.
Prior to serving in the assembly, he ran the Partridge Pub for 30years.
